AN APPEAL TO JOIN THE ‘KAPATIRUN’
To have something to eat, even a simple meal, for “noche buena” is very important to a Filipino family. Not having one can make them feel totally abandoned and helpless. Hence, distributing “noche buena” packages to poor families will definitely give joy to our beneficiaries, especially during this pandemic.
That is why Kapatiran-Kaunlaran Foundation Inc. (KKFI) this year will focus its annual “Wish of a Wonderful Christmas” or WoW Christmas on giving “noche buena” packages to needy families of scholars and community children. This Christmas package will include spaghetti noodles and sauce, corned beef in a can, and five kilos of rice.
KKFI needs to raise a total amount of P250,000, our minimum target. We plan to distribute these WoW Christmas “noche buena” packages to families of our scholars and child- and youth-beneficiaries in Manila North Cemetery (MNC), the slum area of “Happy Land” in Tondo also in Manila, and the dumpsite area of Longos in Pulilan, Bulacan by the middle of December.
Due to the limitations of the pandemic, we have considered other platforms that can complement our traditional on ground fund-raising campaigns. In particular, we will host a virtual fun run for a cause in partnership with the mobile application “Stampede:Races”, which is available on both iOS and Android phones. It is an activity that everyone can participate in and is appropriately entitled as “KapatiRUN!”. This event will happen on December 11-13, 2020. We will send you the full mechanics and final details next week.
At this point, we urge you to show our generosity that is required of us especially during this pandemic when our help is most needed by poor families. If we can give them joy and a good meal to a family even for a night, Christmas eve, then we did a lot and God will smile upon us.
Why? Because it is not just a meal that we provided. We give them hope and love that will keep them going through life, even how hard it is.
